We all want to wear clothes that make us feel confident and highlight our best features, right? The first step is knowing your body type, because once you figure that out, it’s like unlocking a cheat code for styling. πͺ✨
So let’s play a little game of “spot your shape.” First, grab a measuring tape (yep, the same one lying in your mom’s sewing kit π) and note down three things: your bust, waist, and hips. Once you have the numbers, matching your body type is super easy.
There are 6 major body shapes, though the last one is less commonly recognized compared to the others:
❤ Rectangle
❤ Inverted Triangle
❤ Hourglass
❤ Apple
❤ Pear
❤ Spoon
Now let’s decode them one by one ⬇
π Rectangle
If your bust, waist, and hip measurements are almost similar, you’ve got a rectangle body shape i.e Bust=Waist=Hip
Think: sleek, straight lines, like you could walk a runway in minimalistic fashion and totally own it!
π Inverted Triangle
If your bust is on the heavier side compared to your waist and hips, you’re an inverted triangle
i.e Bust > Waist > Hip
Think: strong shoulders, sporty vibes, and major “boss energy.”
π Hourglass
If your bust and hips are almost the same size, and your waist is smaller, congrats! you’re an hourglass.
i.e Waist<(Bust=Hip)
Think: balanced curves, snatched waist, and that classic glam silhouette.
π Apple
If your waist is fuller compared to your bust and hips, then you’ve got an apple body shape.
i.e Bust < Waist > Hip
Think: cozy middle, slim legs, and arms that look amazing in sleeveless fits.
π Pear
If your hips are on the heavier side than your bust and waist, then you’re a pear
waist is smaller and more defined hence lower body is fuller compared to the upper body.
i.e Bust < Hip > Waist
Think: curvy lower body, a defined waist, and jeans that were literally made for you.
π Spoon
The spoon body type is defined by hips that are slightly wider than the bust, with a clearly smaller, defined waist. Unlike the hourglass, where bust and hips differ by only 1–2 inches, or the pear, where the bust is noticeably smaller than the hips, the spoon sits in between. The hips are the widest part, but not as broad as in a pear shape, giving a balanced yet curvy silhouette with emphasis on the waist and hips.
Think: soft curves, a defined waist, and dresses or skirts that highlight your hips without overwhelming your frame.
☺☺☺
And there you go! π Once you know your body type, picking outfits that highlight your best features and balance your proportions instantly gives you that extra wow factor. Because remember: there are zero bad body types… just different ways to slay. π ✨
Now that we’re familiar with our body shapes, in next part we will dive into the fun part, the kinds of clothes and styling tips that flatter each body type. So stay tuned because this is where your wardrobe gets an upgrade! ππ
